根据我系与美国加州大学河滨分校（UC Riverside）达成的交流协议，2018-2019学年暑期拟选拔1-4名本科生赴该校心理学院进行科研实习，该项活动计入第四课堂学分（2学分）。项目具体信息如下：

[学校与院系介绍]

The psychology department at UC Riverside (https://psychology.ucr.edu/about-our-department/faculty/) has 4 areas, including Cognition & Cognitive Neuroscience, Behavioral Neuroscience, Social and Personality, and Developmental Psychology, with ~40 faculty members. The Cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience program in psychology consists of 10 faculty (Andersen, Bennett, Burgess, Chiarello, Clark, Kroll, Rosenbaum, Rosenblum, Seitz, Zhang) who are internationally recognized and have a very strong record of grant support. The summer internship will go parallel with the campus wide intensive summer research program at UCR.

[实验室PI介绍]

Dr. Zhang received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (BS) from Nankai University (China) in 1997, a master's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from Beijing University (China) in 2000, and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Iowa in 2007. After competing a NRSA postdoc fellowship at UC Davis, he joined faculty at the Department of Psychology at University of California, Riverside in 2012.

The research program in Dr. Zhang’s laboratory (https://memory.ucr.edu/publications/), supported by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), focuses on perception, attention, memory, and higher cognition in healthy and clinical populations using multiple Cognitive Neuroscience methods, including psychophysics, computational modeling, eye tracking, EEG, non-invasive brain stimulation, and fMRI. Several students and scholars from China have participated in lab research in Dr. Zhang’s lab in thze past several years.

张教授的科研项目整合心理物理学、认知建模， 认知神经科学等多种方法学来探索关于知觉注意和记忆的重大理论和应用。张教授已经在自然（Nature）、 自然-神经科学（Nature Neuroscience）、心理科学（Psych Sci）等杂志发表若干论文。这些科研成果开创了一个崭新的科研领域 （记忆的数量和质量），并且被同行认可。张教授建立的工作记忆（working memory）的模型 （Standard Mixture model）和实验范式（color-wheel task）更是被实验心理学、神经科学、临床科学、教育学等多个领域等科研工作者采用。

We are looking for enthusiastic, well-organized, and highly motivated students with excellent English communication skill. You must have an excellent academic record, including some psychology coursework and an overall GPA of at least 3.2. The following is preferred but not required: previous research experience (especially with EEG, fMRI, or computational modeling), familiarity with Matlab or other programming languages, or interests in applying to graduate school.
