On July 1st, the 2022 Zhejiang University International Summer School, alongside the CRCEP 2022 Cross-cultural Cooperation and Academic Exchange Program, officially commenced in the auditorium on the third floor of the Hangzhou Jindu Hotel.
The program attracted over 20 experts and scholars from more than ten universities and institutions, including Zhejiang University, Southwest Jiaotong University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Tsinghua University from China; the University of Chicago from the United States; the University of Surabaya from Indonesia; and Sapienza University of Rome from Italy. It also drew registrations from over 150 students from Zhejiang University and the University of Surabaya. Approximately ten Chinese experts and scholars and thirty graduate students from Zhejiang University's Department of Psychology participated on-site, while other experts and students joined via Zoom, facilitating academic exchange and discussions in a hybrid online and offline format.

At the opening ceremony on July 1st, Guibing He, Head of the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Science at Zhejiang University, first welcomed all participating faculty and students, both online and offline, on behalf of the department and wished CRCEP a successful execution.

Following this, Jianhong Ma, Professor in the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Science at Zhejiang University and the Chinese initiator of the CRCEP program, delivered an address. He expressed his hope that participants would enjoy the academic exchanges, achieve research outcomes, and build lasting friendships, looking forward to realizing physical mutual visits and exchanges between domestic and international faculty and students next year.

Subsequently, Dr. EvyTjahjono, Head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Surabaya, and Professor YustiProbowei, the Indonesian initiator of the CRCEP program, delivered video speeches respectively. They conveyed their anticipation of hearing research shares from scholars worldwide and extended their best wishes for the smooth progress of the CRCEP 2022 program.

After the opening ceremony, the eagerly anticipated academic exchange program officially began. First, Professor Jianhong Ma from the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Science at Zhejiang University presented a talk titled Eudaimonic Orientation Moderates the Causal Relationship Between Prosocial Behaviors and Happiness, exploring the relationships between eudaimonic orientation, prosocial behaviors, and happiness.

Next, AnnataYudiarso, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Surabaya, delivered a presentation titled Measurement of Emotion Using FAU (Facial Action Unit), discussing the measurement of facial emotions and their neural mechanisms.

Finally, Thomas Talhelm, Associate Professor from the University of Chicago, shared experiences and insights on publishing articles in top-tier academic journals. These presentations generated significant interest, with students expressing that they benefited greatly and actively asking questions both online and offline.

That day, faculty and students participating on-site took a group photo. Over the next two days, the schedule included more than ten academic sessions by experts and scholars from the aforementioned institutions, as well as cultural exchanges, academic seminars, and research presentations by six cross-cultural academic teams formed by students from Zhejiang University and the University of Surabaya, Indonesia.

[About CRCEP]
The Cross-cultural Research Collaboration and Exchange Program (CRCEP) is a faculty and student research collaboration and academic exchange initiative under a scientific research cooperation framework. It is led by the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Science of Zhejiang University and the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Surabaya, Indonesia, with participation from institutions such as the Islamic University of Indonesia, Airlangga University, and Ciputra University. The program aims to promote academic connections among university faculty, strengthen students' research capabilities, hone their teamwork skills, and enhance cultural sensitivity, cross-cultural research collaboration, and communication skills. Launched initially in 2012, the program has now been successfully held for ten sessions. It has yielded fruitful results and received positive student feedback, attracting attention from numerous domestic and international universities.
