Delegation from University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education Visits Zhejiang University's Department of Psychology

On the morning of December 3rd, a delegation from the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education visited Zhejiang University's Department of Psychology. The delegation included Professor Joseph Flessa (Associate Dean of OISE), Professor Abby Goldstein (Chair of the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development), and Chief Administrative Officer Helen Huang. They were welcomed by Professor Guibing He (Head of Zhejiang University's Department of Psychology), Professor Hui Chen (Deputy Head), and Assistant Professor Yuzheng Hu (Assistant Head).

Professor Guibing He chaired the meeting. He first extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Toronto and provided updates on the progress of existing collaborative projects, engaging in preliminary discussions about future cooperation directions with the delegation members. Subsequently, Professor Hui Chen delivered a detailed presentation about the Department of Psychology's educational history, disciplinary strengths, and development prospects, emphasizing the important role of international exchanges and cooperation in disciplinary development and their guidance and support for young students.

The delegation provided a comprehensive introduction to the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, covering departmental structure, curriculum design, and summer school programs, while expressing expectations for deepening collaboration with the Department of Psychology. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions regarding exchange student programs, summer school activities, and other collaborative initiatives, reaching consensus on elite talent cultivation and the establishment of dual-degree Ph.D. programs.

Zhejiang University's Department of Psychology remains committed to actively advancing high-level international cooperation and exchanges. By targeting top-ranked psychology departments abroad and focusing on three disciplinary directions, the department strives to establish strategic partnerships with overseas first-class universities and strengthen international research collaboration. In 2024, the department will further implement substantive cooperative development with overseas institutions, effectively promoting in-depth cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, joint student training, and scientific research, with dedicated efforts to cultivate outstanding talent for the future.
