2024 SDG Global Summer School "Human Cognition and Health" Successfully Kicks Off

On the afternoon of July 18, 2024, the 2024 SDG Global Summer School on Human Cognition and Health successfully commenced at Lecture Hall 537, Building 3, HainayuanZijingang Campus of Zhejiang University. The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Jan Theeuwes, Fellow of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences; Professor Judith Wylie from Queen's University Belfast; Associate Professor Xu Chang; Associate Professor Xiaoqing Hu from The University of Hong Kong; Weiqing Ying, Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Zhejiang University; Professor Hui Chen, Deputy Department Head; Researcher Yuzheng Hu, Assistant Department Head; Professor Jie He; Professor QiongZhang; and others. The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Department Head Professor Hui Chen. Outstanding scholars and students from top-tier domestic and international institutions, including Zhejiang University, University of Oxford, Monash University, University College London, The University of Hong Kong, Peking University, and Fudan University, jointly participated in the opening ceremony.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Professor Hui Chen extended a warm welcome to the distinguished professors who had traveled from afar and to the students from renowned universities worldwide. He introduced the guests and the faculty team, expressing his hope that all students would acquire cutting-edge knowledge and exchange diverse ideas during the learning and practical sessions.

Weiqing Ying delivered the opening address. She outlined the distinguished history of the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Zhejiang University, elaborated on the mission and vision of the SDG Global Summer School, and expressed her hope that this summer school would serve as an excellent platform for students from different cultural backgrounds to learn and exchange ideas, working together to build a sustainable future.

Following the opening ceremony, Professor Jan Theeuwes delivered two engaging lectures on attentional mechanisms and human factors consulting for the attending faculty and students. He provided a detailed explanation of experience-influenced attentional mechanisms and shared valuable insights into the practical applications of human factors engineering, sparking keen interest and lively discussions among the participants.

The 2024 SDG Global Summer School offers a diverse and rich curriculum, focusing on various fields such as cognition and brain sciences, developmental psychology, management psychology, and clinical psychology. The program includes academic lectures, group discussions, and hands-on experiential activities. Students with an interest in these areas are warmly welcomed to participate and engage in learning and exchange.
