Marisol Perez is a professor in the Department of Psychology at Arizona State University. Her program of research encompasses both theoretical and applied studies in the area of eating psychopathology, often using a focus on Latino populations. She currently serves as editor for Clinician's Research Digest, is President for the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology, a JEDI Faculty Fellow for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and serving on the Board of Scientific Affairs Task force on Inequities in Academic Tenure and Promotion for the American Psychological Association.
Abstract
As the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) continue to advance at an unprecedented pace, so do the potential risks it poses to humanity. To address these existential risks, an innovative and collaborative approach is imperative. In this presentation, we showcase the vital role of an interdisciplinary education from The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University in training future leaders in safeguarding humanity's future. By combining diverse expertise in ethics, philosophy, politics, sociology, mathematics and other fields, an interdisciplinary team is poised to develop comprehensive strategies that promote responsible AI development, minimize unintended consequences, and ensure the ethical use of AI technologies. Join us as we explore the power of cross-disciplinary collaboration in shaping a safer and more sustainable AI-driven world.
