A new paper about social working memory and theory of mind has been accepted by Child Development

Recently, an article titledDevelopment of social working memory in preschoolers and its relation to theory of mind, has been accepted by Child Development, a top academic journal in child development (impact factor: 3.779, SSCI), from Dr. Shen and Dr. He’s team.

In this study, Dr. He and her colleagues explored the development of social working memory and its relation with social ability in preschoolers. They revealed the development trajectory of working memory capacity of biological motion that the capacity increased dramatically between 4 and 5 years old and reached adults’ level at 6 years old. What’s more, they also illustrated the close relation between the biological motion working memory capacity and the scores of theory of mind test, especially in 4 years old children.


The results have great impact on child development study and provide theoretical instruction on child education and treatment of children with impaired social function.
